Hungry? Craving for Indonesian Foods

As an Indonesian, my favourite food is definitely Indonesian food, from beef rendang to ayam penyet, from mpek-mpek to ketoprak, you name it. I love most of Indonesian food, with a lot of spices and chillies. It is sound really delicious. Lucky for me, SMU is located in the central of Singapore and I don’t have to go too far to eat delicious Indonesian food. Just walk about 5 to 30 minutes and I can find myself a delicious Indonesian food. I made a small list of Indonesian Restaurant that I already visited and this is 3 of it.

I started my list with the nearest Indonesian restaurant from SMU. That is Indo-Padang in The Cathay #B1-19 which can be reached by only 5 minutes walking from SMU. It sells variety of Padang Food, such as beef rendang, sayur lodeh, ketupat padang, etc. The food is tasty and spicy. It is really match to my taste. The price is still reasonable, around 10-15 for every meal (including rice and drink). It also has a special discount during happy hour and set meal package for 3 to 6 person.

Second in my list is Ayam Penyet Ria. It has several branches, but I usually go for their Lucky Plaza branch, about 20 minutes by walking (better to take bus or MRT). It claims to offer an authentic “taste of Indonesia” and for me it is true. What I like the most there is ayam penyet and baby squid penyet. In one set ayam penyet meal, we will get chicken (of course), rice, tahu, tempe and kangkung, accompanied with sambal (chilly paste). Sambal in Ayam Penyet Ria is very hot. If you don’t like a hot and spicy food, it is better to mix the sambal with sweet soya-sauce. Price for 1 set of ayam penyet is 6.5 and for baby squid penyet is 7.5 (plus extra 0.60 for rice).

Third in my list is Java Kitchen. It also has several branches and I usually visit their branch in Lucky Plaza. I like to have their signature Mini Nasi Tumpeng, a small yellow cone rice with chicken rendang, tempe etc around it. The rice is so tasty and delicious. I forgot the price, I think it around 5 to 7.

There are still a lot of Indonesian restaurant around SMU, such as Indonesian food stall in kopitiam Bugis, nasi padang in Lucky Plaza, Suroboyo in Lucky Plaza, Ojolali in Lucky Plaza etc. In Lucky Plaza there are numbers Indonesian food restaurants. So, if you are in SMU and feel hungry and craving for Indonesian food, just walk a little bit and taste a lot variety of Indonesian Food.
